With the support of our benevolent donors we plan to be at our best by bringing in state of the art and upcoming technologies which are beneficial in diagnosis and treatment of the patient.
Presently we intend to have a PET-CT machine in our Cancer Hospital.
PET is a nuclear medicine imaging technique. In PET-CT, functional imaging obtained by PET, giving the spatial distribution of metabolic activity in the body and anatomic imaging obtained by CT scan are precisely aligned and helps doctors account for variations in tumor size shape and location. With it, doctors see the most complete and accurate images of the tumors and surrounding tissue.
The use of PET-CT is expanding rapidly and plays a pivotal role in cancer treatment.
It helps in detecting cancer in early stage, even before any structural change occurs. It also helps in determining the stage and spread of the tumor. It helps in assessing the effectiveness of the treatment.
So, having the PET-CT machine has become an important imperative for Vivekanand Cancer Hospital.
As the cost of the machine runs in to millions, it is well-nigh impossible for hospital alone, to procure it. We need financial support from benevolent agencies to accomplish this project.
