The Fund has been created to take care of free treatment costs of extremely poor patients.
The disease is an integral part of human life. It affects individuals of all sections of the society, irrespective of social, financial or any other status of the individual. Every one, whether rich or poor, rural or urban has got right to get appropriate and latest treatment.
With tremendous development in medical science and medical industry, healthcare has become a market commodity which can only be obtained accordingly to the purchasing power of the needy individual.
Unless social minded medical doctors and welfare state, do not work hand in hand, the dream of providing equal quality of healthcare to all, will never be realised.
We aim to establish a comprehensive healthcare centre rendering quality and appropriate healthcare services to the members of all sections of the society having respect to their payability, based on the value of social commitment, rather than commercial business attitude.
- So, keeping with this attitude, we will try to provide all needy patients, easy access, to all modern & latest treatment under single roof at lowest of the cost.
- We will create concessionary treatment options that anyone can afford for crucial medical conditions like Cancer, Heart Attack, Brain Strokes and Kidney Failure.
- We will focus on people’s need and capacity to pay rather than commercial attitude.
- We will establish Old Age Home to serve ‘care deprived’ old people.
- We will adopt latest knowledge, state of the art technology and highest skills, backed by efficient methods of management.
- We will adopt Research oriented methodology and we will keep perfect documentation of the cases while treating the patients.
About five decades back, a small group of 4 postgraduate medical doctors pledged to provide service-oriented healthcare services to the people, in and around Latur, then a very underdeveloped area, badly lacking in medical facilities.
In 1966 the hospital was started in a small rented premise, with 6 small rooms and 4 doctors.
On account of it’s innate qualities, the vision of the doctors and overwhelming support of the society, the hospital progressed rapidly and has attained the present status of an optimally equipped multi-super speciality hospital, having almost all latest patient care facilities under one roof and having the staff of more than 50 doctors and about 300 supporting personnel.
Initially, it was a private partnership firm, later in 1979, was converted into a Public Charitable Trust. The hospital has now blossomed into “Vivekanand Family” which comprises of Vivekanand Multi speciality Hospital, Vivekanand Cardiac Hospital, Vivekanand Cancer Hospital, Rugnaseva Sadan and Matoshree Old Age Home.

1969 Hospital shifted to it’s own 3 storied building.
1979 Transformed into a Public Charitable Trust, namely Vivekanand Medical Foundation and Research Centre
1982 Extended to new 5 storied building.
1995 Established AAPI Accident Trauma Centre (Now Merged into VHL)
1998 Established Matoshree Vrudhashram (Old Age Home)
2011 Obtained ISO certification.
2011 Established Vivekanand Cardiac Super Speciality Hospital.
2015 Established Vivekanand Cancer Super Speciality Hospital (Equipped with Cobalt Unit)
2016 Linear Accelerator & Brachytherapy Equipment added to Cancer Hospital.
2018 Obtained NABH Entry Level Accreditation.
2019 Rugnseva Sadan – In Construction Phase.
