For the cancer patients who take radiation or chemotherapy, admission in the hospital is not expected. Though they are ‘day care’ patients they have to come repeatedly. Majority of the patients are from out side of the city and come every time from long distances. This becomes very cumbersome and economically burdensome. On the other hand to stay in Latur for longtime is a very costly and non affordable affair for poor patients.
VHL, in association with some other social groups has decided to build a big hostel type Rugnseva Sadan in the vicinity of the cancer hospital. Two acres of land has already been acquired and construction work is in progress. It could accommodate 50 inmates in the first phase construction. Besides very cheap stay, food also will be served at very low price.
Presently, stay arrangements are being done in a small building, near the hospital. All cancer patients in the OPD are served free food, once daily. This free meal facility is a real boon to the patients and their relatives.
After Rugnaseva Sadan becoming fully functioning, expenses incurred will be of large scale. We hopefully expect generous support from benevolent well wishers of the hospital in the form of donations.
